Feminine Rhythm™ is a place to receive, reconnect, and return to yourself. Through a series of 8-week in-person workshops, women are invited to reconnect with themselves through movement, rhythm, and joy. Rooted in belly dance and guided embodied practice, each workshop offers space to slow down, feel more present, and come back to a more grounded, alive, and connected version of themselves.

✦ The woman behind the rhythm

Hi, I'm Deise — and just like you, I understand how easy it can be to become disconnected from yourself in a world that asks so much of us.

Feminine Rhythm™ was born from my lifelong devotion to dance, embodiment, and the study of consciousness — all of which helped shape this method into a grounded and meaningful path of reconnection through movement.

With more than 25 years of experience in dance, I began to notice something deeper in the women around me. I saw how easily the rhythm of a woman's inner life can get overshadowed by the pressure of a fast-paced life — constantly caring for others, handling responsibilities, staying productive, and moving from one demand to the next without enough space to pause, breathe, and recharge.

I saw this in students, friends, and women close to my own heart, including my mother and sisters. Over time, I began to recognize how easily women can lose touch with qualities that are essential to feminine well-being: receptivity, presence, intuition, inner listening, softness, creativity, flow, and the ability to simply be instead of always doing.

That understanding became the foundation of Feminine Rhythm™.

I created Feminine Rhythm™ to help women reconnect with those qualities through rhythm and movement. Rooted in belly dance and guided embodied practice, it offers a supportive and joyful space to slow down, come back to the body, and rediscover a more grounded, alive, and connected relationship with yourself.

As this work evolved, I also noticed something else women were deeply craving: community. Again and again, I saw how much women long for spaces where they can gather, breathe, laugh, move, and simply be in the company of other women. That is why I also created the Feminine Rhythm™ Friday Parties — as warm, welcoming gatherings where connection becomes part of the practice, and where women can feel supported, nourished, and reminded that they are not alone.

For me, Feminine Rhythm™ is more than dance. It is an invitation for women to receive, reconnect, and return — to themselves, to rhythm, and to the nourishment of a shared feminine community.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the classes held?

We currently gather in two locations, depending on the class. Wednesday classes: The Dance Space 6004 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23230 All other classes and Friday Parties: Virginia Tango 13110 Midlothian Turnpike, Midlothian, VA (next to the Hallmark store) Please double-check the location of your class before coming, and if it’s your first visit, give yourself a little extra time to find the space.

Do I need previous belly dance experience?

Not at all. Many women begin with no prior experience. Our program is designed to support beginners step by step, starting with Entry Level 1.1, where you build a strong foundation while reconnecting with your body through rhythm, presence, and joy.

What workshop should I join?

If you are new to belly dance, we recommend starting with Entry Level 1.1. From there, students continue into the Foundations of Feminine Rhythm™ Belly Dance workshops, where each level builds progressively on the last. If you have already completed Entry Level 1.1 or have prior belly dance experience, please contact Deise before registering so we can help you find the best workshop for your level.

Do you offer drop-ins?

We do not offer drop-ins for workshops. Feminine Rhythm™ is built around an 8-week journey because so much of the experience deepens through regular presence and continuity. If you’d like to experience the energy of the community before joining, you are welcome to attend one of our Friday Parties for $20.

What are Friday Parties?

Our Feminine Rhythm™ Friday Parties are joyful community gatherings where women come together to move, connect, and enjoy the experience of shared rhythm. Each one may include something a little different — from belly dance-based movement and playful exploration to themed evenings, special activities, and community fun. They are one of the most loved parts of Feminine Rhythm™ and a beautiful way to deepen connection and shared experience.

What should I wear or bring?

Wear anything comfortable that allows you to move freely — leggings, yoga pants, or a flowy skirt all work beautifully. You may dance barefoot or wear soft dance shoes. You’re also welcome to bring: • a water bottle • a hip scarf, if you have one Hip scarves are fun, but not required.

How much is tuition?

8-week workshop tuition: $144. This includes access to the Friday Parties during your workshop cycle.

What is the class schedule?

Can I bring a friend?

Yes — for the Friday Parties, absolutely. If you have a friend who would enjoy the experience, she is welcome to join you at a Friday Party. Just make sure she registers in advance so we can save her a spot.

What if I miss a class?

We really encourage you to attend each class, because every workshop is designed as a progressive journey and each class helps build the foundation for the next. That said, if something important keeps you from attending, no problem. We always do a review at the beginning of class to help everyone reconnect with what we’ve been working on, and we’re also currently creating an online platform with videos for review, coming very soon.
